Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral service of Cape Flats author and scriptwriter, John Fredericks on Saturday.
The Noem My Skollie writer died at his Strandfontein home last Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 73-years-old.
Family and friends filled the auditorium at Amazing Grace Ministries in Parow to pay their last respects to the revered storyteller.

Speaking to the media after the service, John's daughter, Janine de Villiers, said her father wanted to inspire others.
"My father wanted to motivate and inspire," she said.
"He said if he could make a difference in one person’s life then his goal would have been accomplished."

Janine said her father never gave up on his dream of becoming a writer.
"My father was a dreamer, my father was a storyteller… at the age of 50 he decided to quit his day job because he wanted to become a writer.
"It took (him) 20 years, but he accomplished his goals at the age of 70-years-old.
"My dad always said dreams never die and his dreams never died."
