Angry Bishop Lavis aunties still in their multicoloured gowns on Tuesday morning chased down a gang of skelms who had burgled a school two days in a row.
The three men, aged, 26, 28 and 52, who allegedly broke into Lavisrylaan Primary School on Sunday and again on Monday evening, were arrested and charged with robbery.
The school, in the midst of exams, has been left without electricity and water.
The mob of gatvol ladies were able to identify the thieves after the second break-in and went on the warpath in Bishop Lavis Drive, hitting and kicking the thugs and dragging them by their hare.
In a video of the incident, one of the men is heard screaming, “Dit wassie ekkie, Antie”, but an angry woman responds by hitting him with her cup, shouting at him as police try to intervene.
The cops ended up saving the skelms from getting a lekker vrouepak.
One angry auntie said she has had enough.
Beatrice Willemse, 56, said: “They keep on taking from our children who can’t go to school and they get into trouble on the roads.
“The gangs recruit them and the cycle of crime continues. Not anymore. Even if I must run in my gown whole night to catch the varke, I will. This was now enough.”
Western Cape Education Department spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond, confirmed the two break-ins at the school.
“The perpetrators stole all the electrical and telephone wires. The school is now without electricity supply and there is also no access
to water due to stolen taps and cisterns.

“They also stole computer equipment. On Monday, the school was burgled again. The perpetrators stole all the food from the feeding scheme, as well as feeding scheme equipment.
“Damage was done to the ceiling and the door frame of one of the blocks. The incident has been reported to Safe Schools and infrastructure for assessment.
“We again appeal to communities to keep their ears and eyes open and report any knowledge of such incidents to SAPS, or the sale of certain goods, immediately.”
Police spokesperson, Capt. FC van Wyk, confirmed the three men are set to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court.
“A case of house robbery was registered for investigation. Three suspects aged 26, 28 and 52 were arrested. They are due to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court today,” he said.
