A dom fraudster, who used fake IDs to open clothing accounts, is in the mang after he brazenly returned to the same shop twice.
Ronald Pillai, security manager at Parow Centre, says they could not believe the man had returned and jumped him in the shop after he was spotted by a wakker cashier.
“In August he went to Jet Stores in Parow Centre and, using someone else’s ID with his picture, he successfully opened a clothing account.
“After the matter was reported with the forensic services the store was alerted about the fraudulent account.”
Pillai says on 1 October he was informed by the store manager that the man had returned to open another account using another fake ID.
“He actually came back again to the same shop with another fake ID and the cashier recognised him.
“She told the manager and the manager called us in.”
Video footage of the arrest shows the man standing at the counter with a cellphone in his hand when he is cornered by Pillai and his team who walked up to him and handcuffed him.
Police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela, says the 36-year-old was taken to Parow Police Station where he was charged with fraud.
“The suspect appeared in court on 3 October and on 10 October.
“The suspect is still in custody and is expected to make his next court appearance on 9 December 2019,” said Majikela.
