It was the moment that had South Africans go from sitting on the edge of their seats with anxiety the one minute to laughing their gat off the next.
On Thursday night, moments after announcing a phased relaxation of the national lockdown, President Cyril Ramaphosa had the country in stitches as he sukkled to put on his Corona mask.
It took Ramaposa, several cringe-worthy seconds to get it right as he maneuvered the mask, skeef en krom across his face from his eyes, then to his nose and finally getting it over his mouth and tucking the elastic loops behind his ears.
It was like watching a child fighting off a balaklava. Remember those?
Within minutes mense on social media went bos with all kinds of funny memes and even started a #MaskChallenge.

But it wasn’t just South Africans who found it funny, the President had a lekker lag himself.
On Friday Ramaphosa jokingly told journalists at a media briefing in Gauteng that he was going to start his own TV channel to teach mense how to put on a mask.
“For those who were laughing at me yesterday, let me tell you something, I’m going to open a TV channel where I’m going to teach people how to put on a mask,” Ramaphosa said during a site visit to quarantine facilities.
