Mina Smit, 75, of Kalksteenfontein, who is an amputee, slept in a warm and new house last night thanks to community activist Dawn Roode and Lynn Maasdorp, 31.
Lynn and her family and friends from a travel club joined hands to give Mina a Nutec house after her home burnt down in March this year.
Yesterday, Imvusa Timberworks began constructing the new huisie for Mina in Paul Street, Sarepta, Kuils River, which will be fitted with thermal heating and electricity.

Furniture and food have also been donated from generous community members.
“I feel so blessed and overwhelmed, I just want to say thanks to everyone involved for giving me a new home,” says Mina.
