A SUSPECTED hijacker was busted in Mitchells Plain by wakker cops.

According to Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg, members of Operation Shanela got a tip-off, which led them to the suspected, who was found with the stolen vehicle and a imitation gun on Sunday.

Twigg reports: “Members of Operation Shanela followed up information about a hijacked vehicle in Irene Close, Lost City, Mitchell’s Plain, and arrested a 36-year-old man when they found him in possession of a Silver Honda BRV which was hijacked in Kirstenhof.

“The members found an imitation firearm inside the vehicle. The suspect faces a charge for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and the possession of an imitation firearm and will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court once he has been charged.”

In an unrelated incident, cops arrested a Lwandle man for running an illegal drankwinkel.

Twigg adds: “An adult male was arrested for dealing in liquor without a license when police members searched his premises. He could not produce a license to sell liquor and was subsequently arrested.”

Also in Lwandle, Members of the Crime Prevention Unit followed up information of a suspect who is wanted for attempted murder. They searched the identified premises and arrested an adult male.

A further search of the premises led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol with ammunition. He was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and attempted murder.

The suspects will appear in the Strand Magistrates Court once they have been charged.
