Commuters waiting on the platform were left in shock when a woman was thrown out of a moving train as it pulled into Bishop Lavis station.
The young woman screamed and landed on her head on the platform, and was found sitting up in a pool of her own blood.
The incident happened on Friday afternoon and it is believed she had been on her way to Bellville when two men tried to rob her on the train.
She refused to hand over her cellphone and money, which is when they forced open the door, grabbed her cellphone, and threw her from the train.
“I just heard a scream and saw her rolling on the platform,” says witness Farieda Jacobs, 39, from Bonteheuwel.
“There was so much blood. The poor girl was crying and she said they threw her out because she dared to tell them she would not be robbed.
“We called 107 and 112 and the police came quickly to help her. She was bleeding from her ear and a massive cut in her head.”
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut confirms the incident and says the suspects are yet to be arrested.
