Five fish shop skelms were netted after they robbed a store in Kraaifontein.
Shamrock Fisheries in Brighton Road was held up on Tuesday afternoon by the armed men.
But the robbers were lekker gevang while hiding in reeds in Milton Street, Scottsville.
Marky Solomons from Kraaifontein was on the scene shortly after the robbery.
“I take off my hat to a tow truck driver who stood close by and alerted SAPS and armed response while keeping an eye on their movements.
“The skelms hid between the reeds and when a Titanium Securitas team arrived within seconds, the tow truck driver piemped and said where they were hiding.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirms the arrest.
“Kraaifontein Police are investigating a business robbery case after five unknown suspects robbed a supermarket on Tuesday at about 1pm,” he says.
“According to reports, two of the suspects first came inside the shop and bought something.
“Another three suspects came in positively armed, pointed at the complainant with a firearm and demanded money.
“Suspects closed the door and robbed the complainant and the other family members as well as a customer that was inside the shop.
“An undisclosed amount of cash, two cellphones and cigarettes were stolen.
“Two of the family members were taken to a nearby medical facility for medical treatment after they were assaulted by the suspects, who fled the scene.”
“Two suspects aged, 20 and 28, were arrested soon afterwards and are detained at Kraaifontein SAPS.
“The suspects will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ once they are charged.”
