A video of a mentally challenged man from Schaapkraal admitting to having had sex with a homeless man in Plumstead has gone viral and left his family shocked and confused.
The video was allegedly made by a police officer in Plumstead two weeks ago and the family believes the 35-year-old man was coerced into saying how he had sex with a gay bergie for R50, but could not pay.
The video prompted his sister to search for her brother who has since gone missing.
Fareedah Sadien says her brother prefers living on the street and receives a disability grant.
“He is slow, he does not read or write and his eye is also funny since he had a stroke.”
Sadien says last week a neighbour contacted her to say a cop had made a video of her brother and it’s gone viral.
She says the family hasn’t seen her brother in two months, but do not believe what is being said on the video and wants the cop charged for abusing his authority.
In the clip, the officer, speaking in Afrikaans, asks him about his alleged sexual encounter with a homeless gay man.
He uses his authority and forces the mentally challenged man to look up at him.
The man then admits he had “ lekker sex” with the homeless guy, but that he didn’t pay yet as he could only withdraw R40 from an ATM.
“ Ek het noggie betaal nie,” he says. “ Die bank het ’n R40 gegee. Ek gannit môre oggend gee.”
The cop then asks the gay man lying on the ground: “Het hy in jou h*l gespuit?”
He replies: “ Hy’t my R50 gepromise vir ’n n***, maar hy het
noggie betaalie.”
Sadien says because her brother is an adult the family is not able to control his movements.
“He always says he can’t be at home and goes away. He just wants to live on the street, but he is not safe and now even the police are targeting him.
“We want to ask him to come home, but we can’t find him after this.”
Police spokesman, Siyabulela Malo, says if the officer can be identified the family can report the matter to the police watchdog, Ipid.
