Police are probing a shootout at a popular takeaway in Wynberg on Sunday night which left one man wounded.

According to a source, a scuffle between friends at Cosy Corner Takeaways in Ottery Road at around 7pm resulted in the victim being shot in the leg but he fled the scene.

“What we know is that the victim was in a bakkie and the shooter was in an Audi,” says the source.

“It appears they all went to Cosy Corner together and there was some argument where the victim threw money at one of the guys and he just took out a gun and started klapping skote.

The victim was hit in the leg and ran away so the cops never found the victim.

“At this stage nobody knows who these guys are and what that argument was about.”

SAPS’ FC van Wyk, confirms the incident and says: “Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.

“The victim is unknown after the shooting he left. Victim and suspects ran out of the restaurant and fled in different directions”.

Cosy Corner owner Yousri Hartley says staff were left traumatised but he is grateful none of them were hurt.

“It was a very traumatic experience. It appears they were arguing before the shooting started,” he says.

“This has never happened before and I am grateful the staff were unharmed.”

If you have any information about the shooting, you are urged to contact Detective Sergeant Lwana at Wynberg SAPS on 021 799 1332 or 072 561 2261.
