Ready D is revving it up for a good cause.
The Cape Town MC legend and his wife Malikah Daniels have teamed up with Man Up to spread awareness around the importance of male circumcision.
The couple, who are both well-known drifters, have vowed to spread the message of educating men to go for the big snip, with their catchy logo, “Soenat, just Doenit”.
Soenat is the word Muslims use for circumcision.
On Wednesday night, over 600 mense came out in support of First Wednesday in Montagu Gardens, organised by Ready D, where petrolkoppe show off their kwaai rides.
Mense were amazed when Malikah showed off her Nissan 200SX S13, which has been turned into a mobile billboard to promote the Man Up campaign.
Man Up, launched last year, encourages young men to volunteer for medical male circumcision because it is safer, more hygienic and reduces a man’s chances of contracting HIV and other STIs.
It also reduces the chance of cervical cancer in their female partners.
Previous ambassadors for the campaign include Chad Saaiman, Christian Bennett, Quanita Adams.
Joining Ready D and Malikah this year are Cape Flats comic duo Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat from Joe Barber fame, who on Wednesday were the first to take a spin in the Man Up mobile.
ENCOURAGEMENT: Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat joined the cause
“Having Malikah on board with her drift car is symbolic of the important role that women play when helping to support and encourage their guys to take the necessary steps to ensure that their health is taken care of, and get circumcised,” Ready D said.
“Working on the Man Up campaign is a humbling experience as it is a great opportunity for us to learn about health-related challenges that men face. It is exciting to roll out the campaign and introduce it to a scene that’s passionate about cars and music.”
