Commuters got a skrik on Wednesday when two pedestrians were knocked by a train in separate incidents.
Just after 8am, a 30-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries after she was knocked by the train between Wetton and Lansdowne as she crossed the railway line.
Metrorail spokesperson, Riana Scott, says commuters on the Cape Flats line were delayed for up to 60 minutes.
“On Wednesday at 8.24am another incident of an illegal pedestrian crossing was reported between Wetton and Lansdowne.
“EMS, SAPS and Metrorail Protection Services were investigating on-site.”
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed the incident.
“This office can confirm a 30-year-old female was knocked by a train on Wednesday morning at Lansdowne railway station at 8.10am and she sustained injuries to her head.
"She was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,” Van Wyk said.
And just before 6 pm the same day, a man was hit by a train at Salt River Station after illegally crossing the railway tracks.
It is believed the man also sustained serious head wounds.
According to Scott, this incident delayed 13 trains.

“The injured man was taken to Groote Schuur Hospital. The incident happened at 5.41pm, causing 13 trains to be delayed until full-service resumption post-investigation at 7.38pm,” Scott added.
