The Strandfontein family who hired a private detective to find their missing pit bull were overjoyed after a dog found in their community fitted his description.
But after blood testing was done at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA yesterday, it was confirmed the pit bull was not the missing eight-month-old Thor.
Owner Zaahirah Mukaddam says she still has hope that Thor will be found and says the R4000 reward she offered to this end was still up for grabs.
She says a dog similar to Thor was also found in Strandfontein.
“After blood testing at the SPCA it was indicated that we were brought the incorrect dog,” she says.
That dog has since been reunited with his rightful owners.
Thor was last seen on 6 December on Spine Road in Strandfontein with an unknown man. Zaahirah says the dog went missing after jumping over their fence.
She fears dog cage fighters might find him and use him for this purpose. She said Thor was still young, but well-trained and has a gentle nature.
