A third suspect has handed himself over to cops in connection with the hit on controversial criminal defence lawyer Pete Mihalik.
The man, 35, handed himself over on Wednesday, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut confirmed.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning.
He will join two men who were arrested shortly after Mihalik was shot dead outside his children’s larney school, Reddam House, in Green Point last Tuesday morning.
Mihalik’s teenage daughter was not injured, but his eight-year-old son was hit in the jaw.
The suspects, Sizwe Biyela, 26, and Nkosinathi Khumalo, 31, fled in a silver VW Polo but were nabbed within hours.
The suspects, who are both from KwaZulu-Natal, have been charged with premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
The motive for the killing is still being investigated, but it is believed to be gang-related as the Anti-Gang Unit is investigating.
Traut confirmed this.
A source close to Mihalik told the Daily Voice Mihalik had a R5 million bounty on his head because “he knew too much”.
