A 17-year-old boy accused of raping and sodomising a young meisie from Parkwood has been sent to a juvenile detention centre.
The boy appeared at the juvenile court at Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, after he was nabbed last Thursday.
Angry residents put the teen in a taxi and drove him to Grassy Park Police Station themselves after word spread that the mother of the eight-year-old girl had caught him in the act.
The traumatised mom says she caught the teen on top of her daughter on Wednesday night after returning from a nearby shop.
The boy moved from Caledon to Parkwood a week ago to live with his mother.
She says she found him lying on top of the girl and he even confessed to the rape when he told her he did not ejaculate inside the girl.
Grassy Park Police Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says as court proceedings are closed to the public they received a brief from the SAPS Family Violence, Child protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit which indicated that the boy had been arrested for rape before.
“It was established that he is accused of raping a minor in Caledon, but as he is a juvenile, he was released into his mother’s care.
“After he failed to appear in court a warrant of arrest was issued for him and while out on bail he allegedly raped the Parkwood girl.
“He has now been sent to a juvenile detention centre until his next court appearance on 26
November.”
