A teen boy was killed while chatting with his female friend in Delft.
Lenovan Moos, 17, was shot while standing with his 19-year-old neighbour on Monday around 6pm.
His brother Leogan, 23, says he was hit three times in the head.
“I was at home watching TV when I heard gunshots and people shouted that it’s Lenovan who was shot,” he says.
“I went to the scene and found him lying there with the bullet wounds in the head, he was still alive at the time and my parents went with him to the hospital.
“He was declared brain dead and my father watched as the doctors switched the machines off.”
Leogan says he doesn’t know who killed his brother and why they did it.
“He was not a gangster, the time he was shot he was with his friend and they were standing by the corner talking,” he says.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated: “The motive for the attack is unknown.”
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Parkwood girl, Stacey-Lee Petersen, is fighting for her life after she was shot twice in the head.
Her boyfriend Justin September, 27, says they were walking on Parkwood Avenue on Monday evening when he heard a gun go off.
“I didn’t see which direction the bullets came from. There were a lot of people in the street and we were the only people hit,” he says.
“A bullet broke my arm while I was trying to shield Stacey-Lee, she was unfortunately shot in the head. She is in hospital, she has been operated on, the bullets are out.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says Grassy Park Police are investigating two attempted murder cases, while the motive and suspects are unknown at this stage.
