Residents of this Manenberg house got a moerse skrik on Sunday when a taxi ploughed through their walls.
The incident happened in Ruimte Road just after 7pm, when the driver of a silver Quantum taxi apparently lost control of the vehicle and drove through the fence, straight into the house.
The front of the taxi was completely destroyed and the driver was injured in the incident.
Police say there were only minor injuries as people scrambled to get out of the way of the crashing van.
A witness and resident in the area, who asked to remain anonymous, claims the driver had been speeding and was responsible for the accident.
SPEEDING: Wrecked taxi
“I heard that man coming before I saw him take the turn even,” the 26-year-old witness recalls.
“Yoh, if I was walking on that side of the road I would be dead, man. This guy was aspris and he put innocent people in danger and everyone is too afraid to say anything.”
She says there were also children playing in the road, but they were not injured.
“The driver was taken to hospital, but he did not look badly injured at all. He must stop driving like a vark,” she added.
The homeowner refused to speak to the Daily Voice.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed the incident, saying: “A reckless and negligent driving case was opened for investigation. No one has been arrested so far.”
