The petrol price will go down slightly, by 9 cents a litre from Wednesday while that for diesel will decrease by up to 31c.
The retail price of illuminating paraffin, on which many South Africans still rely for cooking and lighting, will be 30 cents lower from 5 May.
The retail cost of liquefied petroleum gas will drop by an even sharper margin of R1.72c/l.
The rand appreciated against the US dollar, averaging R14.45 per greenback between 31 March and 29 April, compared with R14.98 during the previous period.
