A Bonteheuwel mother has died after being shot by skollies while walking to the shop.
The hartseer family of Louise Davids, 49, says they watched her bleed to death in Bramble Way on Friday afternoon after she was shot twice in the stomach.
Niece Edwina Davids, 38, says she spoke to her aunt moments before she died.
“We were sitting in the lounge and talking and then she said she was going to buy cigarettes at the shop. We heard gunshots and when we went to look we saw her dead in front of the shop and there was just blood,” Edwina says.
According to residents three gunmen ran up the street and opened fire on members of a rival gang, but missed and hit Louise instead.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says a murder case was registered for investigation and arrests are yet to be made.
A 31-year-old relative, who asked not to be named, says Louise’s death comes just a year after her youngest child, Nathaniel, 12, was found hanging from a fence at Netreg Train Station.

He says after the boy’s death, Louise was interviewed by the Daily Voice and kept a poster with his picture from the newspaper article in her lounge.
“It has been a year now and she was just coping with his death, and now this,” the relative says.
“He was her laatlammertjie and she took it very hard. Until today we don’t know how he died or who did it.
“She kept that poster in the lounge and looked at it every day. Now we must deal with her also being dead. We are all heartbroken,” he says.
