A Golden Arrow passenger has been stabbed and injured during a robbery.
The bus which was travelling from the City Centre to Electric City, Eerste River, became the latest target in a spate of robberies where skelms target buses with passengers on board and rob them.
Three armed suspects tried to rob the passenger when they stabbed him, says Golden Arrow’s Bronwen Dyke-Beyer.
“Golden Arrow can confirm an incident which took place at approximately 5.40pm on Wednesday.
“It was on the N2 in the vicinity of the airport.
“Three armed suspects attempted to hold up a passenger, who sustained an injury to their hand in the process.
“The suspects fled with the passenger’s cellphone and the driver proceeded to the nearest medical facility before opening a case at Delft SAPS.”
Police spokesman Colonel André Traut says they are investigating the robbery.
“The circumstances surrounding a robbery on a bus on the N2 in Delft are being investigated following an incident.
“Unknown suspects fled with a cellular telephone, and one passenger was stabbed in his hand and received treatment.
“No one has been arrested as yet.”
Last month, a bus driver who was dropping off passengers was shot in the mouth.
Three unknown armed men tried to force the driver to get into the bus with his passengers.
The passengers were held up and the gunmen fled the scene with valuables.
No one was arrested for the incident.
“The implementation of various interventions are continuing at a fast pace and we will continue to keep the public informed as far as possible, given the covert nature of some of the interventions,” says Dyke-Beyer.
