Drivers and pedestrians had to dive out of the way of skelms who had hijacked a teacher outside her house.

Police say the woman was hijacked in the driveway of her home in Skakel Street in Eikendal, Kraaifontein, on Wednesday afternoon as she pulled in.

But as the skelms sped off, they lost control of the silver Toyota Yaris and crashed it into a truck.

The teacher at Scottsdene High School was not injured and the skelms made a dash for it, but one of them was caught and beaten up.

The driver of an Isuzu bakkie who tried to avoid a

collision with the Yaris crashed into a vibracrete wall in the street.

Shocked resident, Alistair Basson, says: “Yes, it was a case of diving for your life when these guys came speeding recklessly down the road.

“We didn’t realise they had hijacked the car until they tried to run away. They missed the Isuzu bakkie by inches, but the poor driver was forced onto the pavement when he swerved and drove into a wall.
