A security boss from Grassy Park is behind bars after he was caught with a stash of illegal ammunition.
Grassy Park Station Commander Colonel Dawood Laing says cops were doing routine inspections at various security companies.
Laing says the team arrived at the property in 5th Avenue and became suspicious when the manager refused to answer questions.
“They were conducting inspections and he did not want to answer questions or let them inspect the safe.
“They insisted and found 47 9mm rounds for which he did not have paperwork or the necessary licences at the property.
“He also could not explain where he bought it from and the problem with that is that the business is allowed to have ammunition in line with the types of firearms they have licences for. They only had licences for revolvers.”
Laing says the 53-year-old manager told cops he did not know how the guns got into the safe and was arrested under the Firearms Control Act.
“He did not even have a firearm that fitted the caliber of the ammunition and the danger with that is that he could be buying or supplying to gangsters.”
