A 65-year-old oupa from Silversands who suffers from dementia went missing from his home on 28 August and his family is desperately looking for him.
Jan Ross had asked someone to take him to Ravensmead to go and visit someone, but apparently said he would walk when the person indicated he could not take him immediately.
Jan had apparently gotten upset, but went into the house.
His son-in-law, Avron Knopf, said it was unlike Jan to leave the Silversands area.
GONE: Jan Ross, 65
Jan was known by the community after living with his son for five years.
Avron says they became worried on Wednesday evening when he did not show up at home.
“The entire family are really worried about where he may have gone to. He was not seen leaving the area or even the house, so we are hoping he is fine and someone is keeping him safe till he can remember,” Avron said.
Western Cape Missing Persons Unit CEO Candice Van Der Rheede said Jan was not in any hospitals.
“He is not in shelters in Bellville, Parow or Elsies River. We have also checked Stikland, but the search continues for him.”
Jan is a coloured male with short grey hair and is about 1.75m tall.
He was last seen wearing a denim shirt, blue jeans and a grey jacket.
