The Gwija family in Delft is appealing for help finding their missing brother, Monelisa Gwija, who was last seen going home in Tsunami informal settlement on 13 November.
The family says it is unlike the 30-year-old dad to stay away and not even make contact.
The clothes that Monelisa was wearing that night were found in his shack. His phone has been off since then.
Nosiphiwo Gwija says: “The last people to see him were his friends. They drank together that night and went home around midnight.
“They gave us the description of what he wore but we found those clothes in his shack. So we can’t even tell what he was wearing.
“The police are still refusing to help us. They told us to continue looking.”
Eldest brother, Thembile Gwija, adds: “We have searched in hospitals, mortuaries and all the places we could think of with no leads.
“I have tried opening a missing person’s case three times but they told me to go look for him first.
“He cares about his job and to just miss the whole week without a reason is not like him. What do we say to his two-year-old son?”
Police spokesman Warrant Officer, Joseph Swartbooi, advised: “The family can make an appointment with the Station Commander who will be in position to give direction and share their challenge with him.”
