Schalk Burger Snr has previously made headlines in the Daily Voice.
In 2015, Burger told the newspaper during an exclusive interview at his lavish wine estate Welbedacht in Wellington that he was not a racist and that there was a politically motivated smear campaign against him.
This after Anneline Arendse, who lives on the farm, opened a case of crimen injuria against him, claiming Burger called her a “hotnot” during a dispute over a broken water pipe.
Alvina’s husband was fired by Burger after he was accused of cutting a fence on the farm.
Burger said he was trying to fix the broken pipe when the alleged confrontation took place.
In 2016, a former worker, Johannes Bitterhout, accused Burger of knocking him down with his quad bike.
But Burger claimed Bitterhout was drunk and had fallen over his feet in front of the bike.
Bitterhout opened a case of attempted murder, but Burger was never charged.
Also last year, Burger failed to pitch at the Paarl Magistrates’ Court after he applied for a protection order against Icosa (Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa) leader, Alvina Abrahams.
He wanted her banned from the farm and from speaking about him on social media, where she allegedly incited people against him.
