Police are looking for the killer of a hair salon owner who was robbed on Saturday in Fisantekraal.
Durbanville police spokesperson Captain Marchell Rhode says the man was approached while closing up his hair salon in Conifer Street in Greenville when the incident happened.
“While loading his vehicle, the 40-year-old foreign national (business owner) was approached by an unknown male who shot him four times.
“When the victim collapsed, the suspect took R2000 cash, a cellphone and camera from the victim’s vehicle.”
According to Rhode, the victim was taken to the Kraaifontein Day Hospital for treatment of shots to his chest, stomach and lower body before being transferred to Tygerberg Hospital where he passed away.
“According to eyewitnesses, the suspect ran into a nearby squatter camp with the stolen items and nobody else was injured.”
The deceased was the owner of the Conifer Salon and was known as Abraham.
His staff was too traumatised to speak yesterday.
A 47-year-old Greenville resident tells the Daily Voice: “The hair salon owner was very popular in the area and people liked him.
“It is sad to see this happen to him and people would have helped him if he was just being robbed, but the gunshots made them too scared to do anything.
“After the guy ran away, the body was on the ground for a few hours, but nobody went close because they were scared the guy might come back to steal the car.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed a murder case has been opened and that no arrests have been made.
“Anyone with any information about this incident is kindly requested to contact Durbanville SAPS on 021 970 3826.”
