Police are investigating the owner of a rehab centre for assault and abduction after he allegedly kidnapped and moered two skelms who broke into the facility.
The two self-confessed thieves, who are recovering in Victoria Hospital, claim they were beaten up for four hours at the Parkwood rehab last Tuesday.
Masood Abrahams, 20, and Zaid Morris, 24, admit they broke into the Foundation for Positive Change offices, where they were being treated free of charge, and took a laptop, modem, microphones, a silver chain and two rings.
They then tried to sell the stolen goods at Cash Converters in Ottery.
However, a manager found the details of Rashaad Allen, the founder of the centre located in Kestril Way, on the laptop and called him.
The Daily Voice previously did a story on Allen, who started the organisation to reintegrate offenders into society.
Masood Abrahams
He himself served 18 years in prison.
Abrahams and Morris claim they were thrown into a room and a group of men, along with Allen, beat them with poles and cricket bats and burnt them with cigarettes.
Abrahams tells the Daily Voice: “We did take the stuff, we know it was wrong as well.
“Boeta Rashaad came with his friends and they hit us with the poles in that room.
“They tied us up outside and they used bats and asked how our penises are feeling. Then they washed away all the blood covering us from head to toe and started all over again.”
Abrahams, 20, with fresh wounds
Abrahams’ face is still swollen and full of cuts. His back is bruised and covered in cigarette burns.
Morris is still recovering in hospital, with gashes to his head, bruised ribs, and cuts and bruises all over his body.
Abrahams claims their attackers took breaks in between beatings and they eventually managed to escape after four hours.
Zaid Morris, 24, is in hospital
“With the ropes wet they became pap and we were able to help each other get free and run. People found us and we were taken to the hospital,” Abrahams says.
Lieut-Col. Andrè Traut confirms a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm was opened and is under investigation.
“One of the victims reported an abduction case at Grassy Park Police Station, which is also under investigation,” Traut said.
But Allen says he has nothing to hide.
“I went to hand myself over at the police station that same evening,” he says.
“I do so much for these boys and this is how they repay me. The police said they were not aware of the matter and told me to go home. I take full responsibility for what I did. Was I wrong? No, I don’t think so.”
