A Pakistani man accused of raping his 17-year-old niece and then trying to flee the country has been sent to the mang after he was busted by Manenberg police.
The dramatic arrest of the 50-year-old man was captured on video in Rubens Road, Welcome Estate, where a large crowd is seen gathering as he jumps into a yard while being chased by cops.
“You f***ing rapist! You piece of sh!t! They must murder you! You rape your niece!” a woman is heard shouting as he is loaded into a police van.
The victim’s 36-year-old sister, who may not be identified, says the incident has left the matric girl devastated.
“The incident happened on Monday, 5 April when she was walking to the barber shop.
“He is a Pakistani man who has been married to her aunty for a long time.
“She got him in Heideveld Road then he asked where she was going and he said she must get in and he will take her to his barber and she went because she trusted him.”
She says instead the suspect took the girl to Bellville to a cheap hotel where he raped her.
“She told us that he struggled to penetrate her and he kept saying he liked it when she cried.
“He gave her a R200 to keep quiet and when she came home she did not want to tell us anything.”
The teen eventually told her sister and the angry family confronted the man and made a case.
“He went on the run and didn’t come home and his wife told us she was done with him.”
They then heard he and his family were making preparations to leave Cape Town and they contacted Manenberg police after he was spotted in Welcome Estate.
“The police went to the house, but his family claimed he was not there.
“Then someone else who lives there told the cops he was inside and he ran and the community ran after him.”
Police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut confirms the case and says the suspect will remain behind bars until his next court appearance for a bail hearing.
