The sister of a 19-year-old man accused of raping his estranged girlfriend’s two young children says she was the one who had him arrested and wants peace between the two families.
The 32-year-old woman is the sister of Zamaine Wearley, who is facing charges of rape at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court for a boy and a girl aged eight and 11.
The minors have been placed in the care of their father after their mother passed away a few months ago.
Wearley is currently out on R1 000 bail.
Last week the victims aunt told the Daily Voice the family was unhappy as Wearley was breaching his bail conditions by walking around in their community.
The sister says the family is gatvol of rumours, saying they are supporting her brother as this is not true.
The children and their deceased mother lived in a Wendy house on the same property as Wearley and his family.
“We do not condone what he did and if he did this, he must face the consequences,” the sister says.
“The mother started dating my brother when he was still on the skoolbanke. He started using drugs when they were dating and they used together.
“When I found out what my brother apparently did, I took the child to the police station to open a case and we were told to get social workers involved.”
She says her brother was staying in Mitchells Plain because her mother could not afford accommodation elsewhere.
“My mother spoke to the investigating officer about him being in Mitchells Plain.”
