Police from the Crime Prevention Unit in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, were doing a patrol on Friday when they spotted a suspicious-looking Mazda vehicle in Malva Street.
When police searched the vehicle, they found 3 500 Mandrax tablets.
The tablets have an estimated street value of R150 000.
They also confiscated 18 x 45mm rounds.
Police immediately arrested the 31-year-old man who is expected to appear at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of dealing in drugs and the illegal possession of ammunition.
