The Philippi Community Police Forum (CPF) says the meeting will be held to start work on a Prayer Day for Hanover Park after three police officers were shot by gangsters over the weekend.
On Monday, the shootings continued with two bullet-ridden bodies of Hanover Park skollies being found in the streets.
A police source says they skriked when more than 20 skote went off in just seconds as an alleged gang member was shot in the face.
The officer says shortly before 9pm, an alleged member of the Americans walked down Downberg Road and shot into the air at random.
“That bra was just shooting for no reason. Then other gangsters from a rival gang heard the shots and came out and opened fire on him. They shot him several times and there was more than 20 skote and they shot him more than 10 times in the face,” he says.
The source says the gangsters also took the man’s firearm before fleeing the scene.
“That ou is now lying there and still has a magazine on him,” he adds.
Police spokesperson, Sinathi Joni, confirms the incident and says the victim was 27 years old. He says no arrests have been made.
The source says an hour later more gunshots went off in Hanover Park and the body of another Americans gangster was found on the corner of Lonedown Road and Johndown Walk.

Pictures sent to the Daily Voice show that the second man also has a bullet wound to the face with his blood flowing into the street.
Joni confirms the second incident and says: “In a separate incident, circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that resulted in an unknown man getting fatally wounded in Hanover Park. A murder docket has been opened with no arrests made at this stage”.
CPF chairperson, Ebrahiem Abrahams, says they are concerned about the escalating violence and have called a meeting with residents, organisations and religious institutions for Thursday.
“We are very concerned about the tactics being used by the gangsters. They have no respect for police and community leaders so we want to take a moral approach by hosting a Prayer Day for Hanover Park,” he says.
“The meeting will be held for anyone who is concerned and wants to help us plan to come forward.”
The meeting will be held at the Hanover Park library on Thursday at 2pm.
