The younger brother of EFF leader Floyd Shivambu has finally broken his silence regarding the shocking VBS Bank Heist report.
The VBS report released on Wednesday detailed how R1.89 billion from the bank was illegally received by 53 people between 2015 and 2018.
Various ANC and EFF politicians have been implicated in the “heist” which left thousands of the bank’s customers destitute a few months ago.
In a statement released on Thursday, Brian Shivambu denied receiving any money from the bank through his company Sgameka Projects.
“My company, Sgameka Projects, was appointed to provide professional consulting services to Vele Investments in 2017. My company did not have any business relationship, nor did it receive money from VBS Mutual Bank.
“The contract entered between Vele Investments and Sgameka Projects does not state anywhere that my company will receive payments from VBS Mutual Bank,” he said.
Brian allegedly received R16 million from VBS.

The Daily Maverick reported the EFF had received R1.3 million of the funds while Floyd Shivambu received R10 million of those funds.
The EFF has not made any comment regarding the allegations.
Meanwhile, the ANC says “heads must roll” while the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) said the probe must be expanded to ascertain whether a R7.8 million loan it advanced to former President Jacob Zuma was above board.
“The Economic Freedom Fighters’ alleged links with the criminal underworld, possible benefit from VBS fraud and involvement of its leadership in shoddy deals, including its earlier protestation that VBS was being victimised for giving Zuma a loan, must also be probed,” Sanco national spokesperson Jabu Mahlangu said.
The Hawks have confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway regarding the matter.
