The ruling African National Congress (ANC) on Tuesday announced that it has decided to recall Jacob Zuma as president of South Africa.
ANC secretary general Ace Magashule made the announcement at a press conference at the party's Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg. It followed a marathon meeting of the ANC National Executive Committee on Monday night which sought to finalise the fate of Zuma.
Asked what would happen now that the party had decided to recall Zuma, Magashule said: "I don't know what will happen, but let's leave that to President Jacob Zuma."
He added that they had not put timelines to the process but were treating it as "a matter of urgency".
