A Grassy Park man is die moer in after a well-known liquor store overcharged him by R9000 from his purchase and is yet to refund him.

Hayden Herman, 40, says he went to buy a drink at Ultra Liquor Express in Grassy Park on Friday after working away from home for a month, but could never have imagined what would happen.

“I just came home after working for a month in Namibia and went to Ultra. I went and purchased a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, lime and ice, which came to R294.

“When I got to the till the cashier rang up the items. It went through and I saw the total was R9 294,” Hayden explains.

He says he immediately wanted to speak to management who assured him the matter would be sorted as soon as possible and he was asked to return the next day.

“I spoke to the bosses and they told me I would receive my R9 000 by Saturday when I return. I went back the Saturday and staff turned around and said something else.”

He says management “was not there on Saturday”.

“I returned the Sunday, but nothing either. I went back on Monday and told the owner, Mr Osman, I’d head to the bank so he could see nothing was reversed. His son accompanied me to the bank. When I returned he was gone, like Houdini,” Hayden explains.

The welder says he just wants his money back.

“That is my salary. I have things to do, things to pay. I need that money. It’s not a little money. Imagine, R9 000 for those items, lekker neh?
