Warrant officer Carlo Antha took the witness stand at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Wednesday during the bail application.
The accused, who usually appears via Audio Visual Remand, was brought to court from Pollsmoor.
The Tafelsig pastor ditched his bail application in January but launched a fresh bid for freedom last month.
Bird faces seven charges including four rapes, two murders and one charge of intimidation.
He is accused of murdering Aniesa Bardien, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave near an informal settlement in Strandfontein in January 2013.
The woman was identified through DNA analysis.
It is believed Bird lured his victims with the promise of a job during 2013 and 2016.
He is also believed to be behind the murder of Sharvonne Koense, 20, who was strangled and raped and her body found dumped along bushes in Baden Powell Drive, Tafelsig, in August 2015.
Antha told the court Bird was an Evangelist preacher and that he had gained women’s trust but that he was an aggressive person.
He said Bird had crushed Aniesa’s head with a brick and choked her, and brutally raped her.
The bail application continues on Friday.
