A Mitchells Plain police officer stationed at parliament has been shot and killed in Parow.

Hours after Sergeant Faizel Adams, 39, was declared dead, his bereaved family arrived from all over Cape Town to pray for him at the scene.

They said they had just spoken to him on Tuesday morning and were shocked at his sudden death.

His emotional sister Fariedah Dinnie says they are still waiting to hear what happened to Faizel.

“We got a phone call and they told us that my brother drove to Parow from work,” she says.

“And then he was shot and they don’t know who did it.”

The officer was shot on the stoep of the house of his cousin, who he was visiting after his shift ended.

A witness told Daily Voice two men walked past the house and opened fire on Faizel.

The suspects ran to a waiting white VW Golf which drove off in the direction of Voortrekker Road.

Sergeant Adams lived in Mitchells Plain with his wife and two young children.

Shortly after the shooting, a small army of police officers gathered at the scene.

The cops included the Anti-Gang Unit, the Hawks, Flying Squad and Vispol.
