A Wesbank man accused of raping at least five boys after luring them to his home with food and a R2 will appear in court today after he was caught by the community.
Tempers flared in the community on Tuesday when the boys – aged eight to 13 – revealed that the alleged paedophile had shown them porn and performed sex acts on them.
Community worker Toneil Hector, 22, says a girl piemped the suspect.
“The 12-year-old girl came to me and told me that there were rumours the man was molesting children,” she explains.
“I asked to speak to the boys and seven of them came to me and told me that the suspect offered them food and R2 to come inside his Wendy house.”
Toneil says on Tuesday morning, the man allegedly told the boys he was moving the next day and that he had R3000 and they should go with him.
“When I questioned them, there was one little boy who was very traumatised because he had been present during the times the man would invite each of the other boys to his house,” she adds.
“He allegedly showed them porn and performed oral sex on them.
“The one boy said the suspect took his cellphone out of the boy’s pocket and grabbed his penis and allegedly told him he had a nice big penis and he asked the boy if he could suck it, saying he wanted to feel it in his throat.”
A shocked Toneil says she immediately went to the families of the boys and police were called to the neighbourhood.
“The community was really upset and brought bats, axes and wooden poles and gathered outside his Wendy house as they wanted to moer him. He was arrested and taken away by Mfuleni Police.”
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirms that the Kuils River Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is investigating the matter.
“Five boys aged between eight and 13 were allegedly raped and a male in his thirties was arrested and is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court (today).”
The boys were taken to Karl Bremer Hospital yesterday and underwent a series of tests.
A 46-year-old father, who cannot be named, says he got a skrik when he heard what happened to his 13-year-old son.
“We trusted him and he always played with the children. I have seen changes in my son as his school work went down,” he says.
When the Daily Voice visited the suspect’s home, his wife declined to comment.
