Suspected wife killer, Robin Packham, may have his bail withdrawn for allegedly trying to contact a State witness for a second time.
Packham appeared before Judge Elizabeth Baartman in the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday after he was re-arrested at his Constantia home last week.
Gill Packham, 56, was reported missing on 23 February after she failed to arrive at work.
Her charred remains were later found in the boot of her green BMW at Diep River Train Station.
The car had been set alight with her in it.
According to the State, Packham tried to contact the witness, who is also his former mistress, through a mutual friend.
It was also revealed that the three belonged to a bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism (BDSM) group.
In September, Packham was found out for trying to contact the jolmeit via emails, SMSes and dropping flowers at her workplace.
The judge raised his bail to R75 000 and added stricter conditions including that he is not allowed to be in possession of an electronic device that has the ability to send messages or emails.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Ivan Sonnenberg, says Packham allegedly tried to make contact with the witness by sending her friend SMSes and sent a letter to the block of flats where she lives.
Defence lawyer Ben Matthewson argued that there was no proof that Packham sent the messages and says he plans to attend his daughter’s wedding this weekend where he intends walking her down the aisle.
He also said Packham had received hate mail at his house. This included pictures of him with “666” emblazoned on his forehead, and labelling him the “Anti-Christ”.
Judge Baartman postponed the case to today and will make a judgment on whether his bail should be withdrawn.
