A 30-year-old man has been shot and killed while purchasing coffee and sugar at a local tuck shop in Kraaifontein.
The man only identified as “Slim” was found lying outside the tuckshop in Gourmand Street, Scottsville on Wednesday just after 4pm.
A source at the scene told the Daily Voice the man had been the first gunshot victim to die in the lockdown period.
“They called him Slim,” explains the man.
“He was the first person to be shot and killed during lockdown in this community.
“We had an incident last week where someone was stabbed.
“Slim was shot twice in the head after visiting a spaza shop.
“He bought sugar and coffee. He was found with the sugar and coffee still in his hands.
“He had a girlfriend for three years and has no children from that
relationship.”
It is not clear if Slim was a gangster but police believe that the matter is gang-related.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says the Anti-Gang Unit has been roped in to
investigate the case.
“The circumstances surrounding the murder of a 30-year-old male, who was shot and fatally wounded in Gourmand Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein on Wednesday, 27 May are being investigated. A murder case was opened for investigation,” he says.
