A man thought to be the henchman of a slain Americans gang boss has been shot dead outside his home in Mitchells Plain.
The 46-year-old, known only as a Sharief, was ambushed outside his home in Peugeot Crescent, Beacon Valley, on Saturday afternoon.
Security camera footage of the incident, shows two shooters standing on the corner and opening fire in the direction of the man.
The victim is believed to have been right-hand man of Rizaam “Zampie” Jacobs, 41, who was shot dead as he left Barron’s Estate in Knole Park.
Pupils from a Mitchells Plain school had gathered for their matric ball there on 7 December.
Zampie and his bodyguard died after being shot multiple times in the head, neck and chest.
A week earlier, he had reported two members of the Anti-Gang Unit for the theft of R15 000 during a raid at his Beacon Valley home.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, said no arrests have been made.
“On Saturday at 2.30pm, a 46-year-old man was shot and killed in Peugeot Crescent, Beacon Valley by an unknown suspect who is yet to be arrested. The circumstances are being investigated by Mitchells Plain police.”
