Tafelsig residents say a raging gang war is the reason behind six shootings yesterday where one man died and three ended up in hospital.
Residents say Abdul Salaam Davids, 36, was killed in his Gideonskop Street home by an unidentified shooter at 5.45am.
A resident said: “Abdul was inside the house when a white Quantum taxi came from the corner and two guys got out.
“The one guy walked to the door and the other went back to the van before the bra broke the door down by shooting it and then he went and shot three times.
“Abdul tried to run away and hide in the house but the guy shot him twice and he left him in the bathroom.”
A relative of Adbul said he’d been out of jail for the last five years and was not involved with gangsterism.
“Hy was a tronkbendelid but when he got out he didn’t bother with these gangsters here in the area. He also has a two-year-old daughter.”.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk confirmed the motive behind the shooting was gang-related, while no arrests were made.
“The deceased had gunshot wounds to his neck and chest and died on the scene,” he said.
A few hours earlier, five males aged 13 to 22 were shot in Plattekloof Street less than a kilometre away.
A 28-year-old man said the shooting happened just after midnight.
“The brasse were skieting dice by the power box by the house when a white bubble (Toyota Corolla) drove past and they just started shooting.
“After they were shot, there was a bra lying by the box, one ran away and another bra hopped here past my house.”
Van Wyk confirmed the wounded men were treated at hospital while no arrests were made.
