Witnesses say the 21-year-old deceased was in Greenturf Walk when he was shot at by an unidentified person.
He started running over the field, trying to get away, but was shot in the face and chest before collapsing. He died on the scene.
Residents in the area say the young man did not belong to any gang.
A 25-year-old man was shot in the bum and a 23-year-old was also wounded. It is believed neither was the intended victim and were just caught in the crossfire.
By some misfortune, a heavily pregnant female was also walking over the field.
One of the men injured in the shooting fell on top of her and she was also taken to hospital for a check-up.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirms the incident: “This office can confirm that yesterday at 4.45pm in Lansburg Road, Hanover Park, three males were shot. One male was fatally wounded and medics declared him dead on the scene.
“Two other males were wounded. Both males were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“A case of murder and two cases of attempted murder are being investigated. The motives behind the shooting and killing are being investigated and it is yet to be determined if the incident was gang-related.
“An unknown suspect fled the scene on foot. No arrest has been made yet.”
