The “secret life” of a 58-year-old man, who was arrested for the alleged sexual grooming and rape of six girls at his home, has been exposed.
Two weeks ago, Gordon Lewis of Grassy Park was nabbed and sick details of his suspected sex attacks on little girls between the ages of eight and 14 years old came to light.
Lewis, who worked at the Milnerton Refinery and who used to work in Dubai on oil rigs, was arrested and made his first appearance at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court last week.
Lewis’ alleged modus operandi was to gain the trust of vulnerable children in Manenberg while dating a woman in the same community.
He allegedly showered the girls with gifts and money, and allowed them to drive in his car.
He also allegedly invited them to his home in Grassy Park for “weekend getaways”.
This is when cops believe the alleged rapes took place and when the children would apparently be spoilt with gifts like expensive cellphones.
It is alleged the children would receive between R50 and R100.
Police believe there are more victims in areas like Bokmakierie and have asked people to come forward with information.
Police spokesperson Constable Wesley Twigg confirmed Lewis’ arrest and court appearance.
A 77-year-old woman says her granddaughter had dated Lewis, who was divorced and lived alone and that the entire community is shocked by the allegations.
“He dated my granddaughter for five years,” says the ouma.

“He is a very good person and we still cannot believe that he did what police said.
“Two weeks ago, a car stopped with children inside and I thought it is Gordon again with a new car.
“But it was the detectives and they were asking where the other children were.
“The children stayed out of school for three days for medical tests and doctors confirmed they were raped.”
The woman says one of her great-grandchildren, an eight-year-old girl, was one of the children who used to visit Lewis at his home: “She used to get first in his car because he would take her for a drive. When he came from Dubai, he came back with cellphones for the children.”
Lewis is expected to make his next appearance on 12 October for his formal bail application.
