Two men will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Monday morning charged with the murder of an elderly couple in Ottery last weekend.
Rugaya and Riedewaan Addinall, both 82 years old, lived in Sandown Road for the past three years and were found strangled to death inside the separate entrance they lived in last week.
Two men, aged 20 and 29, were arrested in Delft last Thursday. One of them knew the Addinalls.
Son, Anwar, found his parents’ home ransacked last Sunday at 4pm, with appliances and other items of value loaded into his parents’ black Mercedes-Benz.
The perpetrators had apparently left the car and loot behind when the car wouldn’t start.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the men were arrested on Thursday night following an investigation by Lansdowne detectives.
“The thorough and comprehensive investigation by Lansdowne detectives into the ruthless killing of an elderly Ottery couple in their home on Sunday led to the arrest of two male suspects last [Thursday] night,” he said.
“Detectives assigned to the case worked around the clock in search of the suspects, aged 20 and 29, who were both arrested at a residence in Delft. One of the suspects was acquainted with the victims.”

Anwar told the Daily Voice there had been no sign of forced entry, and that neighbours have security footage of the incident.
“I have not seen any footage. The neighbours have identified this man we know, but I did not see it myself. We will rely on the police to find out who did this to my parents,” he said.
A neighbour who viewed the footage told the Daily Voice two men could be seen entering the property, one of whom was identifiable.
“They then start loading Boeta Riedewaan’s car with stuff from their house on the video and tried to start the car. The car would not start and they left, leaving all the stuff right there. This guy is known in the community and it was shocking watching him do this,” she says.
