A traumatised woman says she was shot by lockdown cops while out buying bread for her family.
The 26-year-old woman from Nyanga says police fired rubber bullets at her and other people without asking them why they were out in the street.
Noluthando Jack from Mau Mau says she did not run when the police officers approached the shop on Monday afternoon because she had a valid reason for being out of her home.
“I did not run when the police came because I thought they were going to ask why I was out, but they greeted me with bullets,” she says.
She was hit three times above her buttocks and says she fell to the ground as panicked people started running out of the shop.
“I then heard a strong male voice say, op op op, and another bullet hit my back.”

The frightened woman says she managed to walk home through her pain, but has since refused to leave her house.
“I am scared of going out again and my friends said I should go open a case, but I am scared of the police,” she says.
On Sunday, chaos reigned in Langa as dozens of people looted the Shoprite liquor store, and early on Monday, criminals removed bricks at the back of the Pick 'n Pay bottle store in Nyanga and stole expensive liquor.
Police vowed to crack down on the skelms as they went on a manhunt looking for the stolen dop.

“I thought things like this happen when you are out after 8pm, not during the day,” says Noluthando.
“I was not rude or anything to the police, but I was shot just like that.”
The traumatised woman is refusing to leave her bedroom and her family takes her meals to her room.
“I am not OK. I am scared to reveal my identity (face) because I fear they may come after me after reading this article,” she says.

“Even when I hear car wheels screech, it feels like it is the police pulling over to shoot.
“I wish this lockdown period ends soon and does not get extended because we are experiencing police brutality.”
Three deaths have allegedly occurred at the hands of police since lockdown started on 26 March, according to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
