Murder accused Zane Kilian will only know next week whether he will be a free man or not.
Judgement for his appeal to be released on bail will be given at the Western Cape High Court next week.
Kilian’s defence teams appeared in court yesterday where they listed various reasons why the man who is charged with the murder of Cape Flats cop Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear should be given bail for the duration of his trial.
While the state has admitted that he was not the shooter, Kilian has been charged with the murder plot to kill Kinnear along with alleged underworld kingpin, Nafiz Modack and various other suspects.
Kinnear was assassinated while sitting in his car parked outside his Bishop Lavis home on 18 September.
Kilian was arrested shortly afterwards and several months later his bail application was denied at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court.
Defence attorneys Eric Bryer and Marius Botha then lodged an appeal at the High Court.
In their arguments the defence team listed 15 errors allegedly made by Magistrate Nonkosi Saba in her ruling to deny his bail application, saying Kilian never denied pinging the cellphones of Kinnear and others, only that he used the platform in his work as a debt collector.
The state opposed the application and Judge Ashley Binns-Ward said a ruling will be made on 24 May.
Meanwhile, Killian, Modack and Sergeant Ashley Tabisher are expected to return to Blue Downs Regional Court on the same day for their joint bail hearing.
