Two of the four people, who drowned on Sunday at Rocklands Beach in Sea Point, have been identified as foreign nationals living in Blikkiesdorp.
On Monday night police divers and the NSRI retrieved two more bodies from the waters at Rocklands Beach in Sea Point.
The first of the four bodies to be recovered was that of a 15-year-old boy only identified as Mogamat.
The boy died a hero on Sunday after going into the surf to save his three friends.
Three unidentified surfers hearing screams from bystanders and seeing the teen struggle, rescued him by lifting him onto a surfboard and took him to shore.
Rescue divers from the NSRI were called in but despite efforts to resuscitate him, the boy passed away.
It was reported earlier on Monday that a body had been sighted at Rocklands Beach.
On Tuesday morning police confirmed the two bodies that were recovered was that of Sanga Samuel Ndala, 26 and 16-year-old Anni Moshi.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said divers are still searching for the last body.
"(Monday) night police divers and the NSRI retrieved yet another body from the waters on Rocklands beach in Sea Point. The body has been identified as that of 26-year-old Sanga Samuel Ndala.
"Shortly after this, the divers had found the body of a teenage girl identified as Anni Moshi, also 16 years of age. (Tuesday) morning both the NSRI and police divers have resumed the search for the last teenager who also disappeared in the water after being caught in a rip current.
"The latest recovery brings the figure to three of bodies found. All four had gone for a swim when the tragic incident occurred on Sunday," says Potelwa.

The Daily Voicewent to the home of Mogamat in Blikkiesdorp, but his parents were not there.
According to community leader, Jerome Daniels, the family had been living in Blikkies for a few years.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said the teens were identified as Burundi and Congolese nationals.
It is believed the teens were swept out to sea by a rip current. It was high tide at the time.

“The body of the deceased teenager was taken into the care of police and the Government Health Forensic Pathology Services and police have opened an inquest docket,” he says.
