A man’s dream of marrying his girlfriend has been shattered after she was found dead close to their home.
Todd van Boom, 62, says his fiancée Samantha Ruiters, 42, left home just before 8pm on Monday.
Less than two hours later she was found dead about 600 metres from their home in Pheasant Way, Sunbird home in Blue Downs.
“I noticed she was getting dressed and I didn’t ask where she was going, I thought I would ask when she gets back,” says Todd.
“Her brother came to visit me and while we spoke I just had a bad feeling.”
He says they went looking for Samantha and on his way back home, at about 9.30pm, a man standing on the corner of Nooiensfontein and Saxdowne roads told him they found Samantha.
“I touched her and thought she would wake up, but she didn’t respond, I couldn’t feel her pulse, but she was still very warm,” says Todd.
He believes Samantha was murdered and says he found it strange that cops on the scene would say his fiancée was in an accident.
“She had blood coming out of her nose and mouth, and on the back of her head there was a little blood.
“I think she was either shot or stabbed, I know there is foul play because someone said they heard gunshots last night.
“There were no skid marks on the road to show there was an accident and no broken glass.”
Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana says a case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation with no arrests yet.
