A Cape Flats author, who started writing short stories on Facebook, has now turned them into a 23-chapter book, called Cape Flats Love Affair.
IT specialist Stanley Jacobs from Strandfontein started writing his book on 27 January and published the finished product last week.
The 40-year-old dad of two says the very first story was written on the bus one morning while on his way to work: “I completed the first chapter within 40 minutes and posted it on my page, Cape Flats Stories.
“I wanted to finish the story the next day but my followers decided otherwise.
“Two chapters became six chapters and then I decided to write the book.
“It took me three weeks to complete my manuscript.
“The book is about an accidental meeting in a Parkwood/Wynberg taxi.
“The two main characters are Sam and Charlie.

“Both are victims of abuse but get a second chance in life.
“The story is full of laughter and also I know of a few uncles who cried snot en trane when they read this book.”
Stanley received his first batch of 150 books last week, and made special home deliveries to those who bought it.
He says although the book is fictional, it’s “totally relatable”.
“It is a book I’m proud to have written and so far I only got positive feedback from those who read it. It’s a story many people from the Cape Flats can relate to.”

“Sam is so dumbstruck, she could not speak, but Charlie has caught her attention.
“As the music is playing, Charlie is playfully modelling in the bedroom and speaking with a Russian accent.
“Charlie: ‘Miss Sam I R UR DANCER FORRE Night’ - Sam laughing as he tries to impress her with his fake accent.
“He removes the blanket from the bed and pulls Sam to the foot end of the bed.
“The mood has now changed from humorous to a more serious sensual one. He wants to remove her panty and finds it’s already removed.”
Stanley says lockdown has made him productive: “I’m busy with the second book and the third and fourth book already have titles.”
