A Hanover Park man has been arrested for stabbing his girlfriend to death during an argument.
Mom of five Zulfa Fisher, 41, died inside the home of her 23-year-old boyfriend after she was knifed in the lung on Saturday night.
Her hartseer mother, Sumya Fisher, 58, says she was woken by Law Enforcement cops during the early hours on Saturday and was told that her daughter had been killed.
“They were together for about two to three years and she was staying in Porath Walk by his family,” says Sumya.
“We don’t know what led up to the stabbing but Law Enforcement came here and told us about the stabbing.
“We were shocked because we don’t know her boyfriend to be abusive or anything like that.
“She has five children who are very hartseer.”
Zulfa’s berk Carlton Hendricks, 23, will make his first appearance at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court today.
It is believed the couple were arguing over Carlton’s ex.
A 48-year-old relative of Carlton, who asked not to be named, says Zulfa and her friend were walking home when she came across Carlton’s ex-girlfriend.“She was talking to her and Carlton saw and there was an argument,” she says.
“He thought he stabbed her in the left arm but she lifted her arm and the knife went into her lung and she ran inside.
“We as the family immediately went looking for help to get her to a hospital but nobody could take us.
“Then Law Enforcement was chasing some guys in the street and we stopped them and asked for help but she didn’t make it.
“We handed Carlton over to the police and they told us he will appear in court on Tuesday.”
The woman says Carlton’s hartseer family attended Zulfa’s janaazah on Sunday and grieved with her family.
“We loved her like our own.
“She was a lovely person and we loved her a lot.
“We believe this was an accident,” adds the relative.
SAPS’ Joseph Swartbooi confirms: “This office is informed that a 23-year-old man has been detained.
“Once charged he is expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder.”
